Process of creating an animated film, Marina Kecman

Knowing all the elements of the process of creating an animated film is the basic step towards creating your own vision. An animated film can be short or feature-length, minimalistic or with lots of details, author’s/artistic or commercial… And in each of these situations, the organization of the creative process can differ more or less. Yet, there are three basic stages in the organization of work on every animated film – preproduction, production and post-production. In preproduction, the idea becomes a screenplay, storyboard and animatic, the general looks and style of the film are determined, and all the characters and objects are designed. Production is the longest part of the process in which the models, textures, animations, lights and different effects are made. Post-production includes final editing, additional effects, sound and music, and color correction.
