Festival Comitee 2005



The Pre Selection Committee of BALKANIMA 2005 has finished its work. The Committee members are: Nikola Stojanovic, professor of film history on Faculty of Dramatic arts, Marija Milanovic, animator and director and Vlada Stanic, animator and teacher in Dunav Film School . From the 185 films submitted they selected 97 for the official competition, in cooperation with Artistic Director Nikola Majdak. For the Panorama of European Films they selected 31 films. All the Committee members agree in a fact that there are many films showing that animation is art, not just one of the TV entertainments.


Marija Milanovic Lazarevski
was born in 1972 in Kraljevo. Graduated from Film S chool Dunav film – animation department with the film The S hadow and the Man, for which she received significant recognition – Golden Medallion of Belgrade at the 49th Festival of the Yugoslav Documntary and S hort Film; Grand Prix of the Animated Film Festival in Cacak. Currently engaged in the school of animated film as an assistant of Vera Vlajic in The Children’s Cultural Center; working on her own second project Naive S tory supported by the S erbian Ministry of Culture and Media.


Nikola Stojanović
(1942), screenwriter, director and publicist, is the proffesor in Faculty of Drama in Belgrade and Art Academy in Novi Sad. He is the founder and editor of the film magazine “Sineast”. As a complete author (script writer and director) produced seven featured movies (“Dear Irena”, “Polen dust”, “Autograph”, “Look into the night”, “Big talent”, Apple of gold”, “Belle epoque”) and several dozens of short and documentary films (“In the kitchen”, “Hahari”, “Act”, “Triptich”, “Alternative”, “Quo vadis”, “Come and watch”, “The fifth act”). He recieved numerous international and national awards, among witch is the Life achievment award on the 49. International Festival of Short and Documentary Film in Belgrade in 2002.



Vladimir Stanić
born in 1947, in Osijek . Reached final studdies in Italian language and literature study group on Philology Faculty in Belgrade . Started working in animation in the beggining of the 1970’s in Kino Club of Yugoslav Army Center in Belgrade . Since 1973 proffesionally works in animation. As an independent film maker cooperates with all animated film authors in Serbia , being in al posistions in animation production, from phaser to chief animator. Works in the field of applied animation (commercials, ordered films, clips). Since the foundation untill its closing worked in BIKIC STUDIO as the chief animator on series and took care of training new workers. Teaches animation in DUNAV FILM school.

Darko Markovik was born in Skopje ( Republic of Macedonija ) 1940. Cartoonist and satirist, animation film director, comic bookartist, illustrator, designer and father.He graduated from the University of architecture in 1966, and in 1972 he specialized in animated film in Zagreb.He started his professional career as a cartoonist in working for From 1966 to 1975 he worked as an Editor – in Chief for the satirical magazine Osten, and Managing Director of World Gallery of Catoons in Skopje. In 1975 he started working for Vardar – film, Skopje and opened a Studio for animated film. From 1978 he has worked as a freelance artist and in 1983 he was appointed a Professor of the Faculty of Fine Art in Skopje , on the subject of animated film. In the same period he was appointed Chief Editor of cultural programmes for Television Skopje. Since 1988 to 1995 he has lived and worked in London. He has also received more than thirty international awards and prizes for cartoons and animated films.


Radu Igazsag Born in 1953 in Romania. Proffesor and chief of Multimedia study group on Drama and Film Academy in Bucarest. Visual artist, animated films director, video artist, photographer. Author of 17 animated and several experimental video films. Recieved numerous awards for films. Solo exhibited in Romania and Germany, participated in group exhibitions all over the world. Author of 4 multimedial CD ROM editions.



Thomas Renoldner Born 1960 in Linz , Upper Austria . Studied psychology and educational theory at the universities in Innsbruck and Salzburg , also painting and animation film at the Academy of Applied Arts / Vienna . Worked as an artist in the areas of music, painting, film, installation, performance. He has realised numerous experimental and animated personal films, which have been invited to several international fest ivals. Leads different kinds of workshops and seminars, starting with courses for children from the age of three years up to lectureships at the Arts University in Linz , the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna or the Vienna Art School. Since ten years he has been leading the Austrian chapter of the International Animated Film Association A S IFA, focusing on: studio for animated film and sound editing, leading animated film productions of fellow artists, research, curating Austrian film programmes for international fest ivals. S ince 1994 he has been working for the international ASIFA, being its president in the years 2002 – 2003, actually he is ASIFA Vice President and contact person for European ASIFA groups.
